Balance Is Bullsh*t: Here’s What You Actually Need

Balance Is Bullsh*t: Here’s What You Actually Need

We’ve been sold the lie that we need to “balance” everything… life, business, parenthood, self-care, like a perfect scale. But in this bold solo episode, Holly calls BS on balance and introduces a more realistic, soul-aligned approach: harmony.

Holly opens up about the pressure to do it all and do it perfectly, and why that pressure leads to burnout instead of fulfillment. She shares what striving for harmony actually looks like in real life, how to identify your own version of it, and why releasing the idea of perfect balance can set you free.

In this episode, Holly shares:
– Why “balance” is a harmful myth (and where the idea came from)
– A better, bolder way to think about time and energy
– How to shift your mindset from guilt to grace
– Questions to help you redefine what your harmony looks like

Whether you're building a business, raising kids, or navigating it all at once, this episode is your permission slip to ditch the unrealistic expectations, and start creating a rhythm that actually works for you.

How I Stopped Starting My Day in Stress Mode

How I Stopped Starting My Day in Stress Mode

For years, my mornings looked the same:
Wake up. Grab my phone. Scroll through emails. Get overwhelmed… all before my feet even hit the floor.

I didn’t realize it at the time, but starting my day that way was putting me into full-blown stress mode and it was carrying into everything: my mood, my parenting, my business, even how I showed up for myself.

In this episode, I’m sharing:

  • What my mornings used to look and feel like (spoiler: chaotic)
  • How cortisol was running my life without me even realizing it
  • The simple morning habits that helped me take my peace and my power back
  • What my routine looks like today and why it’s flexible, not rigid

If you’ve ever wished you could start your day feeling calm, clear, and ready (instead of rushed and reactive), this episode is for you.
Let’s talk about building mornings that feel bold, abundant, and way less stressful.

Until next time, keep creating your bold and abundant life

Failing at PLAY: The Honest Truth About My Word of the Year

Failing at PLAY: The Honest Truth About My Word of the Year

In this vulnerable and honest solo episode, I’m pulling back the curtain on my word of the year—PLAY—and how, despite my best intentions, I’ve been struggling to truly live it out.

Inspired by reading Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes earlier this year, I set out to say YES to more joy, spontaneity, and connection. But life got busy, old habits kicked in, and somewhere along the way… PLAY took a backseat.

I’m sharing what’s been hard, the little wins I’m celebrating, and why this journey isn’t about perfection—it’s about awareness, permission to pivot, and coming back to what matters.

Whether you’ve drifted from your own word of the year or just need a reminder that you’re not alone in the messy middle—this episode is for you.

In This Episode, I Talk About:

  • How Year of Yes inspired my word of the year
  • The real-life challenges of living out “PLAY” as a busy mom and entrepreneur
  • Why failure isn’t the end—it’s just feedback
  • How I’m learning to realign and say YES again
  • A gentle reminder that it’s okay to come back to your intentions, even if you’ve wandered

E30. “When I got the taste for Chocolate…” with Colleen Heidecker

E30. "When I got the taste for Chocolate…" with Colleen Heidecker

Colleen Heidecker, the Master Chocolatier behind Colleens Chocolates has an extraordinary background. With a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and Animal Behaviour from the U of A, Colleen trained dolphins and other animals worldwide for nearly two decades. Next, a fascination with the Mojave Desert led her to organize adventure races and trail run events in Las Vegas, where she developed nutrient-dense, superfood-infused snacks for her athletes. She then transitioned to Canmore, AB, creating her own desserts company before becoming the Lead Dessert Chef at Noorish Conscious Eatery in Edmonton, specializing in raw food and vegan cuisine.

For the past 6 years, Colleen has taught hospitality, entrepreneurship, and work ethics to Indigenous students, leveraging her extensive international experience in the hospitality industry. Her goal has been to assist her students by imparting valuable skills and knowledge while being in a comfortable learning environment.

Colleen's entrepreneurial journey has been shaped significantly by her 7-year involvement in BNI.  BNI's structured approach, rooted in the "giver's gain" principle, played a pivotal role in her success. By actively combatting the scarcity mindset, BNI emphasizes the belief that the more one contributes, the more they receive in return. And as a lifelong learner and fiercely competitive individual, Colleen deeply appreciated all the relationships she fostered during that time that still continue to be a vital part of her business and success.

Her newest entrepreneurial venture is the creation of a media business, The Food Explorer Podcast.  Creating weekly content on YouTube, all audio podcast platforms, and writing articles on Substack.  This passion for all things food is growing into a worldwide community and she can’t wait to see where it takes her!

Colleen's commitment to creating a sense of community and cohesion has not only propelled her own entrepreneurial success but has also demonstrated the profound rewards that come from assisting others in achieving their business goals.
